About ALIPH

The International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage (ALIPH) is a Swiss law foundation based in Geneva, benefiting from the privileges and immunities of an international organization. The main global fund dedicated to the protection of heritage in conflict, post-conflict, or crisis zones, ALIPH supports those who, on the ground, take concrete measures to protect or restore museums, sites, monuments, or intangible heritage, in the most challenging contexts. Since its creation in Geneva in 2017, ALIPH has supported 550 projects in over 54 countries. The Foundation carries out its mission thanks to the support of its nine member states (France, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, China, Morocco, Luxembourg, Cyprus, and Uzbekistan), its three private donors, as well as about a dozen other funding partners.

About the position

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Partnerships, the Communications Intern contributes to the overall work of the team, in particular in the lead up to ALIPH’s 10th anniversary. The candidate must be bilingual in English and Arabic and have excellent skills in written Arabic. This is a paid internship. The successful candidate has to be currently enrolled in a recognized undergraduate or graduate program.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to digital communications strategy, including:
    • Updating the Foundation website;
    • Drafting digital content in Arabic;
    • Maintaining photo database;
    • Taking photos of events;
    • Contributing to development of digital assets;
    • Participating in media tracking.
  • Support Secretariat with official correspondence, including:
    • Drafting letters on behalf of the Executive Director in English and/or Arabic;
    • Contributing or assisting in the translation of press releases into Arabic;
    • Maintaining contact with vendors;
    • Any other tasks, as required by the ED.
  • Over the 2025-2026 period, the Communications Intern will also be contributing to the preparation of two large-scale exhibitions and a coffee table book. The responsibilities under these special projects will include, but not be limited to:
    • Assisting organizing and transferring content (photos, videos, etc.) to partners and vendors;
    • Planning steering committee meetings for events;
    • Ensuring proper management and recording of IP, copyrights, and licensing agreements;
    • Updating documents and coordinate efficient upload of key documentation in the shared drive, including artwork lists, loan agreements, concept notes, scenography notes and records, travel schedules, meeting minutes, and presentations.
  • Any other communications duties, as required

Skills and experience

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in humanities, social sciences, international relations;
  • Facility with social media and content creation, including video editing and photoshop;
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in an international environment;
  • Fully bilingual in English and Arabic, knowledge of a third language would be an asset (especially French);
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities within a small organization, capacity to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies (governmental organizations, IO, NGOs, academia);
  • Initiative and team spirit, with experience working in multicultural environments;
  • Diplomatic tact and discretion.

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Start date: 1 October 2025, for 6-8 months
