The International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage (ALIPH) is a Swiss law foundation based in Geneva, benefiting from the privileges and immunities of an international organization. The main global fund dedicated to the protection of heritage in conflict, post-conflict, or crisis zones, ALIPH supports those who, on the ground, take concrete measures to protect or restore museums, sites, monuments, or intangible heritage, in the most challenging contexts. Since its creation in Geneva in 2017, ALIPH has supported more than 500 projects in 42 countries. The Foundation carries out its mission thanks to the support of its nine member states (France, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, China, Morocco, Luxembourg, Cyprus, and Uzbekistan), its three private donors, as well as about a dozen other funding partners.
Main responsibilities
Under the authority of the Director of Development, the Anniversary and Partnerships Project Officer is responsible for actively contributing to the preparation of ALIPH’s 10th anniversary and, in coordination with the Strategic Partnerships Project Officer, to resource mobilization. While the main focus of the position is the preparation of ALIPH’s 10th anniversary, it is embedded in a broader, cross-cutting effort to strengthen the foundation’s development and resource mobilization capacities.
Preparation of ALIPH’s 10th anniversary
- Draw up the calendar of events planned for the celebration of ALIPH’s 10th anniversary over the period mid-2025 to mid-2027, in coordination with the Communications and Partnerships Department ;
- Organize the main events planned for this celebration (International Conference, Donors’ Conference, etc.), in coordination with the host country ;
- Draft invitation letters, contracts, and partnership agreements ;
- Monitor logistics, budget, and expenditures ;
- Manage diplomatic relations within the framework of this celebration ;
- Support the Communications and Partnerships Department in the design of documentation related to the celebration of ALIPH’s 10th anniversary.
Contribution to the mobilisation of resources
- Contribute to the identification of new donors, particularly (but not exclusively) in the context of the celebration of the 10th anniversary and the third Donors’ Conference ;
- Contact these new donors (States, organizations, foundations, companies, individuals, etc.) and build relationships with them. Organize and prepare meetings with these potential partners (prepare support materials, coordinate potential field visits, etc.) ;
- Identify and develop new funding modalities;
- In coordination with the Strategic Partnerships Officer, maintain the funding opportunities database ;
- Draft concept notes and funding proposals ;
- Prepare and follow up on financial support requests ;
- Carry out the negotiations related to these contributions and assist in the preparation of contractual documents with donors ;
- Monitor compliance with all deadlines and contractual obligations, including the drafting and timely submission of interim and final reports (narrative and financial) to donors ;
- Contribute, in collaboration with the project officers, to the analysis of the results achieved in relation to the expected outcomes as stated in the funding proposals ;
- In coordination with the Programmes and Communications teams, ensure visibility and accountability towards partners regarding supported activities;
- Support the Communications Department in the design of documentation related to fundraising and in the organization of fundraising events.
- Contribute to the organization of partners’ field visits;
- Support internal reflections and contribute to the development and implementation of ALIPH’s resource mobilization and development strategy.
Experience and Skills
- Higher education (Master’s or Doctorate) in a relevant field (management, finance, political science, international relations, etc.);
- At least 3 years of experience in resource mobilization and in reporting to donors for a foundation, an international organization, or a major academic or cultural institution;
- Solid experience in preparing financial reports for public, private, and multilateral donors;
- Ability to create and develop a new function within ALIPH;
- Organizational skills, rigor, and diplomacy;
- Open-mindedness and strong listening skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Excellent writing skills in English;
- Strong oral communication skills;
- Ability to work in an international environment and to travel regularly abroad;
- Flexibility and ability to set priorities in a constantly evolving environment;
- Sense of initiative, team spirit, and ability to work in “start-up” mode;
- Results-oriented mindset and motivation to take on challenges;
- Strong computer skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint, as well as database management;
- Excellent command of English and French. Knowledge of another language would be an asset, particularly Arabic.
