Description
Under the responsibility of CM Geneva’s Director and with line management by the CM Head of Operations, the Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation of Civitas Maxima’s Communication Strategy. The Communications Manager is responsible for the following tasks, including but not limited to:
Strategy:
- Lead and coordinate the implementation of the CM Communications Strategy, including the development, execution and monitoring of annual and project-specific communications plans across all channels.
Communication content and materials:
- Create media and communications content consistent with the CM Communications Strategy;
- Write and disseminate articles;
- Ensure CM’s presence in the media (write and disseminate press releases, press kits, newsletters)
- Coordinate the production of CM’s publications;
Digital communication:
- Oversee the creation of digital content such as visuals and video clips that explain and promote CM’s mission, values and related activities;
- Ensure informative, relevant and honest information is regularly communicated to the relevant audiences according to the CM Communication Strategy;
- Run the content and functionalities of CM’s website, ensuring its content is up-to-date, relevant, informative and conveys a clear and compelling message to reach its audience according to the CM Communication Strategy;
- Lead in conceptualizing and organizing webinars/podcasts;
- Lead in producing CM’s monthly newsletter.
Media relations:
- Build and promote CM’s media presence and profile;
- Identify opportunities to promote CM’s work;
- Develop and maintain a network of journalists by engaging proactively with press, radio, and TV to strengthen the visibility and impact of CM’s work;
- Serve as point of contact for media and public questions;
- Develop and update regularly CM’s media database;
- Support CM staff in media engagement.
Outreach
- Coordinate trial monitoring in close partnership with the Legal Team, including writing, editing, graphic design, and dissemination;
- Run CM outreach projects and activities.
Other:
- Supervise team members as required;
- Monitor and analyze CM media coverage, social media and online presence;
- Assess and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field;
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant and progressively responsible professional experience in a similar role;
- Native-level fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French;
- Strong knowledge and understanding of communication practices and techniques;
- Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media (including social media ads, analytics);
- Experience creating targeted content;
- Experience in media monitoring, analysis and reporting;
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design essential;
- Demonstrated interest in, and understanding of, international justice and the NGO sector;
- Computer literate, proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop), WordPress (SEO, plugins, analytics, templates), Canva, Mailchimp, Google Analytics;
- Comfortable using digital and AI-powered tools for media monitoring, social listening, multilingual content drafting and editing, audience and sentiment analysis, basic visual and multimedia asset creation, SEO and channel optimization, performance analytics and reporting, and workflow automation (e.g. for newsletters, social media scheduling and stakeholder mapping).
