Fondation suisse de déminage (FSD) is a Swiss humanitarian non-profit organisation specialising in humanitarian demining. Since 1997, FSD teams have been working to locate and destroy landmines and explosive remnants of war, deliver explosive ordnance risk education and support victims of accidents.
FSD operates in around 30 countries across four continents and employs over 700 staff worldwide. Its mission is to contribute to safer and more sustainable futures for communities affected by conflict and instability, by protecting civilians from explosive hazards.
Context
As part of its awareness-raising activities in Switzerland, FSD is organising a major public event in summer 2026 in Geneva.
This event will feature an interactive maze installation, designed to help the public better understand the realities of humanitarian demining in an engaging and accessible way.
To take part, volunteers are required to attend an information session on 12 May 2026 at 14:00. Registration for this session is mandatory via email at info@fsd.ch before the event (latest 10th of May).
FSD is seeking volunteers to support the implementation and animation of this event.
Key responsibilities/tasks
Event support and public engagement
- Welcoming and guiding visitors through the interactive maze
- Supporting and animating information stands and activities
- Raising awareness about the dangers of landmines and explosive remnants of war
- Communicating FSD’s key messages in a clear and engaging way
Operational support
- Assisting with the set-up and dismantling of the installation
- Supporting the smooth running of the event on-site
Duration and conditions
- Dates: Summer 2026 (with possible participation in set-up and dismantling)
- Location: Geneva, Switzerland
- Information session: 12 May 2026 at 14:00.
- Commitment: Flexible – volunteers can participate according to their availability
Profile
- Motivated and reliable individuals interested in public engagement
- Comfortable interacting with a wide audience
- Interest in humanitarian issues, particularly mine action
- Ability to communicate clearly and engage with the public
- Availability during the event dates (full or partial)
