Job Opening: Finance Deployment Officer (Fixed-Term Contract)

Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term (7-10 months parental leave cover)

Justice Rapid Response (JRR) is an intergovernmental initiative that partners with international, national and civil society actors by providing them with prompt, impartial and professional expertise, tailored to each context, to investigate international crimes and serious human rights violations and to promote the rights and access to justice of victims and survivors. The JRR Secretariat team carries out JRR’s activities under the direction of the JRR Executive Director and it is based in Geneva, Switzerland with a liaison office in New York.
Role and Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Accounting & Finance Manager and the Finance Director. The Finance Deployment Officer will be responsible for:
- Deployment (Project) Responsibilities (90%):
- Support the donor fundraising and reporting cycle, including budgeting for project proposals.
- Manage specific financial needs of individual donors, including ensuring compliance with donor agreements and preparing both interim and final financial reports for deployments/projects
- Prepare deployment and/or activity budgets based on approved donor funding and by analysing past expenditures.
- Monitor actual spending to track budgets, allocate costs to donors, update forecasting for donor expenditures.
- Review all project related financial transactions for accuracy and correct donor allocation.
- Advise and support program teams on financial and donor-related questions.
- Maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance with SOPs and donor agreements.
- Perform analytical reporting and cost allocation for projects.
- Data preparation for project/donor audits
- General Accounting & Finance (10%):
- In the occasional absence of the Finance Deployment Associate, enter the daily transactions in the Accounting General Ledger and verify their accuracy.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Finance Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in donor budgeting, reporting, and audit support.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in international operations and multi-currency budgeting required.
- Fluent in English.
