Organisation:
Mercy Hands Europe (MHEU) is an international non-profit based in Geneva, Switzerland, since 2019. Our mission is to empower vulnerable populations in disaster-affected areas, including Iraq, Syria, and Ethiopia, through sustainable projects and partnerships. We focus on education, protection, health, justice, agriculture, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), emergency response, and livelihoods.
Position:
We are seeking a Project Assistant Intern to join our Justice Department. The intern will manage the project "Strengthening Civil Societies and the Rule of Law in Iraq as a Peacebuilding Tool III," which focuses on enhancing Iraqi civil society's capacity to seek justice for enforced disappearances and related violations. This involves building a Network of Stakeholders, organising training workshops, and supporting advocacy efforts to address impunity and support victims. The role includes coordinating with various actors and contributing to a sustainable framework for justice and accountability in Iraq.

- Duration: 6 months (Part-time: Minimum of 25 hours/week in the office)
- Starting Date: ASAP
- Compensation: 200 CHF/month

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Report to the Executive Director and Programme Coordinator.
- Launch and manage new and ongoing projects.
- Identify funding opportunities and develop project proposals.
- Coordinate fundraising campaigns and manage donor relations.
- Organise meetings and events.
- Manage social networks and represent MHEU in various forums.
Internship Objectives:
By the end of the internship, you will gain experience in:
- Project management in humanitarian and development sectors.
- Remote support of local partners.
- Grants management, social media, and communication with donors.
- Understanding of humanitarian needs in Iraq.
Requirements & Competencies:
- Enrolled in a Master's degree program related to international law, development, or humanitarian aid.
- Strong interest in the aforementioned project.
- Excellent communication skills in English and French (C1-C2); knowledge of Arabic and/or German is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office, social media management, and Google Drive.
- Knowledge of project management and fundraising is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and within an international, multicultural team.
