Context & Mission

Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).

MSF Operational Centre Geneva (OCG) is embarking on major transformation of the Human Resource Function across the whole organisation. A strategy has been drafted and an HR Transformation Lead will be responsible for overseeing this process and ensuring alignment in the roll-out of the three core pillars of the change:

  • Implementation of a new HR Information System
  • Building the Skills and Capabilities of HR teams (in the field and HQ)
  • Accompanying Structural Change to HR department across the field and HQ

The Learning Experience Specialist – HR Transformation will play a key part to support the need assessment, design, development and implementation of associated learning solutions.

Responsibilities

The Learning Experience Specialist works in collaboration and by delegation with learning partner and will support learning activities. He/She will work in collaboration  with and by delegation of Learning partners and will be responsible for giving advice on and developping Learning solutions, implementing pilot editions and support evaluation for the quality improvement.

Advisory role / provide pedagogical expertise

Support stakeholders by:

  • Advise on approaches, methodologies, tools on Learning solutions
  • Define and ensure the consistency and relevance of the pedagogical objectives
  • Define relevant pedagogical methodologies and tools
  • Guarantee the most appropriate learning modalities
  • Adapt Learning design to target learner and learning objectives
  • Assess and monitor training quality and skills transfers
  • Contribute to the creation of supporting tools, materials, and guidelines

Learning design and development

  • Identify and define Learning needs
  • Design Learning Solutions using appropriate pedagogical approaches
  • Develop Learning solution(s) using appropriate methodologies
  • Implement pilots
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring and evaluation mechanisms
  • Ensure proper integration, handover, and maintenance

Implementation of Learning solutions and other Learning activities

  • Produce specific qualitative report / studies on learning topics (Eg: capitalization report)
  • Deliver trainings and workshops, including some transversal trainings if required
  • Support on the administration, and publishing on platform
  • Design and implement specific learning actions (LNA, evaluation….)
  • Accompany/mentor “junior” LPM
  • Contribute to special learning projects (Dossiers de fond)

Learning Project Management (LPM)

Act as project manager for the full life cycle of the project:

  • Engage with the different project stakeholders
  • Create and ensure validation project charter, including budget, resources and time plan
  • Identify and assign internal – and, where applicable; external, tasks and responsibilities. If requested, can oversee the team allocated to the project
  • Monitor the project’s budget and adjust the scope, time, resources if necessary
  • Ensure the project monitoring, reporting and evaluation
  • Lead the project’s implementation and handover the project into existing mechanisms after delivery (integration, maintenance, adaptation)
  • Provide final report with lessons learned
  • Responsible for proper archiving all the course materials
  • When dealing with an external provider:
    • Identify and ensure call for tenders and contracts. Responsible to select the provider
    • Ensure the supplier provides a product fitting the requirements and learning objectives
    • Evaluate the quality of the supplier’s product and service, as well as on project’s stages.

Your Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in adult learning. Master is an asset
  • OR equivalent experience

Experience

  • At least 4 years' work experience in relation with Learning & Development activities
  • Project management
  • Experience in HR domains including senior HR position(s)
  • MSF HQ/field HR experience is a significant advantage.

Skills/ Technical competencies

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder interactions
  • Good command of MS Office, especially Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, design and proven training delivery competencies

Languages

  • English and French. B2 minimum
  • Other languages are an asset

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time position 100% (40h/week)
  • Fixed-term contract, 4 years
  • Working place: Geneva, with travel to training location
  • Ideal start date: July 1st, 2024
  • Gross annual salary (for 100%): from CHF 86’508.- to CHF 99’612.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
  • Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member
  • Relocation package if moving from a different country to Switzerland.
