The NCD Alliance (NCDA) is a registered non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Geneva, Switzerland, dedicated to supporting a world free from preventable suffering, disability and death caused by noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Founded in 2009, NCDA brings together a unique network of over 400 members in more than 60 countries into a respected, united and credible global civil society movement. The movement is unified by the cross-cutting nature of common risk factors including unhealthy diets, alcohol, tobacco, air pollution and physical inactivity, and the system solutions for chronic NCDs such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic lung disease, diabetes, mental health and neurological disorders.

Job description

We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our forward thinking, committed and dynamic team of 26 staff located across different locations (Geneva, London and New York). The Finance Officer will be part of the Operations Unit whichincludes 5 staff, and will report to the Operations Director.

The Finance Officer assists with the day-to-day financial transactions, processes and procedures of the organisation, by booking and monitoring financial transactions, preparing invoices, processing payments and supporting the annual audit process and budget.

The Finance Officer is involved in the implementation of the financial policies and processes, and collaborates with other units for all finance related queries.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Booking and monitoring of all financial transactions
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Processing of payments
  • Reconciliation of various accounts including the bank statements
  • Participate in financial audits and providing support throughout the process
  • Assist in the implementation of financial policies and processes
  • Preparing of donor invoices
  • Collaborate with other units for finance-related inquiries
  • Develop finance boards on the monday.com platform specifically tailored for monitoring NCDA’s financials and any other boards in relation to the finance function.

Experience and skills:        

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in finance and accounting, ideally within the NGO sector
  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Grant management experience
  • Strong attention to details
  • Experience using accounting software
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • NGO experience, a plus
  • Fluent in English (working language) and French, a plus. 

Requirements

  • EU citizenship, CH permanent resident, or holder of a valid work permit to work in Switzerland. Please note that only applicants with a pre-existing right to work in Switzerland can apply. We regret that we cannot support visa applications.

Terms of Employment

  • Start date: 3 March 2025
  • Location: Geneva. This position has the flexibility to work from home 2 or 3 days per week
