Finance Associate (6-month fixed term contract)

Location: Geneva, Switzerland (Hybrid Working)
Gold Standard is currently seeking a Finance Associate to join our growing team. This role reports to the Senior Finance Manager and is primarily responsible for supporting the bookkeeping and accounting functions at Gold Standard. The position is available on a full-time basis and entails a fixed-term consultancy contract of 6 months.
We are looking for someone detail-oriented, reliable, and motivated to help strengthen our financial operations during a critical period of growth and transition.
We will also consider cross border applicants from France who can commit to working in the office 3 to 5 days a week.
We are unable to sponsor VISAs and only candidates with the correct right to work documents will be considered.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
• Daily Bank Record Keeping: Record incoming and outgoing payments on a daily basis in the accounting software.
• Customer Invoices: Assist in preparing and verifying invoices issued to clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Swiss VAT requirements.
• Bill Verification and Entry: Verify the accuracy of bills, ensuring they are approved and supported by the necessary documents. Enter verified bills into the accounting software.
• Payments Preparation: Prepare and process payments to suppliers, ensuring correct banking details and timely execution.
• Expense Report Processing: Review employee expense claims for accuracy and compliance with internal policies and support timely reimbursements.
• Bookkeeping and VAT Compliance: Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and support correct application of Swiss VAT.
• Monthly Reconciliation: Support reconciliation of bank, receivable, and payable accounts to ensure data integrity.
• Year-End Closing and Audit Support: Assist in compiling documentation and schedules required for the year-end closing and audit process.
• ERP Transition: Contribute to the team’s efforts to implement and test a new accounting system.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
• CFC in accounting or finance or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• 1-2 years of experience in a similar position in a fast moving office environment
• Knowledge of Swiss accounting and VAT rules is desirable
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and to deadlines
• Enthusiasm for making efficiency improvements to existing processes
• Solid skills in the use of MS Office programs and general aptitude for the use of IT systems
• Fluency in written and spoken English and French
• Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the environment or sustainable development a plus
