About WFPHA

WFPHA is an international non-governmental organisation in official relations with the World Health Organization. It brings together more than 140 national and regional public health associations, representing over five million public health professionals worldwide.

Position

  • Position: Events’ Manager
  • Workload: 50%
  • Contract: Fixed-term, 18 months
  • Starting date: 1 February 2027

Main responsibilities

Working under the supervision of the WFPHA Chief Operating Officer, the Events Manager will support the planning, coordination and delivery of WFPHA’s international events, with a particular focus on the World Congress on Public Health.

The Events Manager will serve as the principal liaison for congress-related matters among WFPHA, the professional congress organiser and the host public health association.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining event workplans, timelines and operational checklists;
  • Coordinating communication and activities among WFPHA, the professional congress organiser and the host public health association;
  • Monitoring the fulfilment of the respective responsibilities and agreed deliverables of the parties involved in organising the Congress;
  • Coordinating speakers, participants, partners and sponsors;
  • Taking responsibility for programme development, abstract management and scheduling;
  • Coordinating with the communications and IT teams, including supporting event promotion;
  • Preparing briefing documents, meeting minutes and logistical information related to WFPHA’s event activities;
  • Providing on-site and online coordination during events;
  • Identifying operational risks and promptly reporting issues requiring decisions or corrective action to the COO;
  • Collecting evaluation data and preparing post-event reports;
  • Ensuring that events are accessible, inclusive and delivered in accordance with WFPHA’s standards and objectives.

Candidate profile

The successful candidate should have:

  • A university degree or equivalent qualification in event management, communications, international relations, public health, business administration or a related field;
  • At least five years of relevant experience in organising professional or international events;
  • Strong organisational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines simultaneously;
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders, suppliers and service providers;
  • Experience with event-registration platforms, online meeting tools and standard office software;
  • Familiarity with sponsorship coordination, abstract-management systems or event communications;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Accuracy, reliability, diplomacy and flexibility;
  • The ability to work independently and effectively under pressure;
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively in an international environment;
  • Availability for occasional international travel and work outside standard office hours during events.

The following would be considered assets:

  • Experience working with an international organisation, professional association, NGO or public health institution;
  • Knowledge of French or another language.
