Description

The Inclusive Risk Reduction division of the GICHD works towards reducing the risks from explosive ordnance in a gender and diversity sensitive and responsive manner. We advise and support national mine action authorities/centres, national and international operators and other stakeholders to ensure that gender and diversity considerations are mainstreamed in national mine action programmes and to improve the overall effectiveness, efficiency, relevance and integration of explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) within the mine action sector and beyond. Through assessments, technical assistance, training, research, and advocacy work, our Inclusive Risk Reduction Division is committed to improving the impact of mine action interventions on women, girls, boys, and men from diverse groups in affected communities according to identified needs and priorities.

Job purpose 

The Programme officer will provide support in the design, implementation and monitoring of activities within Explosive Ordnance Risk Reduction (EORR) in the relevant thematic as assigned by line manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, preparation, logistics support and delivery of workshops, trainings, conferences and seminars organised by the GICHD.
  • Support the coordination and monitoring of project grants, including liaising with grants management, finance and other relevant teams.
  • Support line manager in the monitoring of the finances, including on monitoring of budgets, budget development, forecasts, data improvement, as well as the compilation, analysis and presentation of financial data.
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of relevant systems, tools and internal and external activities.
  • Support research and contribute to drafting articles, issue briefs and case studies as well as other publications.
  • Assist with the preparation of background information and materials. Maintain necessary information on the specific thematic(s).
  • Support with administrative processes such as drafting, reviewing suppliers’ contracts, agreements, processing payments as well as supporting the coordination of meetings and mission logistics, taking minutes and reporting.
  • Support the contracting and monitoring of external consultants and suppliers as per the relevant processes and procedures.
  • Actively contribute to monitoring and reporting based on the Results Based Management (RBM) system.
  • Support drafting project proposals, concept notes, project briefs and donor reports.
  • Maintain and update content for the GICHD website, social media and relevant information platforms in coordination with the relevant teams.

 Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field e.g. gender studies, international development, international relations.
  • At least 2 years professional experience in similar roles.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Fluency in an any other language spoken in Explosive Ordnance affected countries is an advantage.
  • Experience in mainstreaming gender and diversity and promoting equality and inclusion in a humanitarian or development context.
  • Experience in contributing to the development of research methodologies.
  • Experience in contributing to the drafting of publications.
  • Experience in providing logistic and admin support in the planning of events.
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural settings with a wide range of stakeholders.

Travel Requirement

May be expected to travel up to 25% of the working time including to countries affected by explosive ordnance, with low-medium-high risk environment.

Salary Information

Please note that the salary level for this role is CHF 5’769 monthly gross, subject to social security deductions and income tax.
