About the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)

UICC is dedicated to taking the lead in convening, capacity building and advocacy initiatives that unite and support the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to ensure that cancer control continues in the world health and development agenda.

Founded in 1933 and based in Geneva, Switzerland, UICC is the largest and oldest international cancer organisation. With over 1,100 members and 56 partners across 170 countries, UICC features the world’s major cancer societies, ministries of health, research and treatment institutes, patient groups, and industry leaders.

About the role

We are looking for a World Cancer Day Campaign Assistant to join the UICC Marketing and Communications team in Geneva, Switzerland to provide instrumental support in delivering the 2024 World Cancer Day campaign. The role is for six months starting from September 2023 until end of February 2024.

Job responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Delivering an excellent level of service to our World Cancer Day supporters, including:
  • Keeping on top of the World Cancer Day inbox on a daily basis (drafting and responding to emails, answering questions, trouble shooting for supporters)
  • Responding to World Cancer Day inquiries via the online chat
  • The timely publication of events and activities on the Map of Activities on worldcancerday.org
  • Editing and publishing user-generated stories on worldcancerday.org
  • Ensuring the quality of all World Cancer Day communication materials through proofreading campaign materials, promotional collateral and various communication pieces
  • Supporting press and media activities through desk research and fact-checking
  • Taking the lead in the community management across all WCD social media channels in close collaboration with the social media specialist
  • Providing support in social media engagement and posting (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tiktok), content scheduling, monitoring and influencer outreach and follow-up
  • Assisting with the robust reporting of the campaign, including monitoring and documenting of World Cancer Day activities and events through desk research
  • Help conduct keyword research for online content and AdWords optimisation
  • Assisting with general content creation for social media, email communications and news article writing
  • Collaborating with the Communications team by providing general support with World Cancer Day-related tasks where needed

Candidate’s profile

Requirements

  • Experience in an area relevant to the job description e.g. communications, marketing, international relations, public health, etc.
  • Experience in social media community management on the following platforms is a must: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok while experience creating live content and engaging with a live audience is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English is a must – proficiency in other languages such as French, Spanish, Chinese is highly valued.
  • Interest and curiosity in global public health issues and working in an international non-governmental organisation environment
  • Excellent oral and writing skills including the ability to synthesise information
  • Experience in web-editing, familiarity with Adobe InDesign is an advantage
  • Client oriented
  • Comfortable with different communication technologies, including webinars and livestreaming
  • A dynamic individual who is able to adapt to ad-hoc, changing and diverse tasks
  • Able to deliver quality results under time constraints in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to take initiative and work autonomously
  • Highly organised with a strong attention to detail
  • A valid permit to work in Switzerland required
