Description

Title: Accountant

Employment type: Part-time, 20% (one full or two half days per week)

Salary and benefits: Competitive for a human rights NGO. HURIDOCS staff receives 4 weeks of paid vacation, in addition to year-end office closing and local bank holidays

Supervisor: Chief Operations Officer (COO)

Location: HURIDOCS office, Geneva, Switzerland

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manage all accounting transactions according to Swiss GAAP FER (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Handle monthly and annual closings
  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  • Support the COO with budget tracking and financial reporting
  • Prepare and participate in external audits
  • Manage Swiss payroll and correspondence with local authorities and insurance companies

Skills and Competencies

For this position candidates should have:

  • Certificate and proven experience in accounting and financial reporting
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software (we are currently using Banana Accounting but are open to change)
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Fluency in English and French
