Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for leading resource mobilization and development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

Resource mobilization:

• Design, implement and manage a multi-year resource mobilization strategy aligned with ALIPH’s strategic plan,
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current donors (public and private),
• Identify new funding opportunities and maintain a pipeline of prospects across different donor categories: governments, foundations, corporations, and individual donors,
• Lead the preparation of funding proposals in close collaboration with the Programs Director and the Director of Finance and Operations,
• Coordinate and supervise donor reporting, ensuring compliance with donor requirements,
• Provide regular reports and analyses on fundraising progress to senior management, the Foundation Board and its Committees,
• Manage a Fundraising Officer.

Development:

• Identify and develop strategic partnerships with governments, international organizations, cultural heritage institutions, and private sector entities,
• Pilot the setting up, where necessary, of local ALIPH offices,
• Lead the planning of ALIPH’s 10^th Anniversary, in coordination with the Communication and Partnership Director,
• Manage a Task Officer (to be recruited) for the preparation of the 10^th

Other duties:

• Represent the Foundation at high-level meetings, conferences and strategic events,
• Undertake other assignments as delegated by the Executive Director.

Professional skills and experience

• Postgraduate education in a relevant field (cultural heritage, political science, international relations…),
• At least 10 years of working experience, out of which 5 years in a management position, in a strategic development position for an international organization, a nonprofit, a foundation, a public administration or an international corporation,
• Proven track record of securing strategic partnerships, preferably in the field of cultural heritage,
• Strong knowledge of the philanthropic landscape, including governmental, foundations, corporate, and private donors,
• Solid knowledge in international relations and geopolitics,
• Proven capacity for planning and working in an emergency environment,
• Great oral and written communication skills,
• Strong interpersonal skills,
• Experience working in an international environment and willingness to travel abroad extensively, including to sensitive areas,
• Sense of rigor and diplomacy,
• Flexibility and capacity to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment,
• Team spirit and capacity to work in startup mode,
• Fluent in English and French. Knowledge of another language, especially Arabic, would be an asset.
