Right Livelihood is looking for a full-time Advocacy Officer. The role will be based in our Geneva office and will be key in promoting and advancing the causes of the Laureates in international and regional fora.

Purpose of the Role
The Advocacy Officer will contribute to raising awareness of Right Livelihood Laureates, promoting their causes, and enhancing the impact of their work on relevant platforms. A key responsibility will be tracking, analysing, and engaging with international mechanisms for human rights while continually involving the Laureates to facilitate their engagement and capacity building.
Main Responsibilities
- Identify, propose, and contribute to developing new international advocacy opportunities.
- Proactively implement advocacy objectives.
- Assist in organising solidarity missions to Laureates' countries.
- Support the coordination of events involving Laureates.
- Prepare advocacy materials, including briefings, talking points, reports, and campaign materials.
- Support the organisation's overall engagement with UN human rights mechanisms and other international institutions according to the strategic planning of the year.
- Contribute to establishing cooperation with NGOs and other relevant actors in Geneva and other relevant fora.
- Strengthen cooperation with existing partners to leverage advocacy opportunities.
- Liaise with Laureates and explore meaningful ways to support their work.
Experience and Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Experience in multicultural environments.
- Knowledge of multilateral processes, including at the regional level.
- Knowledge of climate and environmental issues.
- Experience with grassroots organisations/movements is desired.
- Full professional proficiency in English. French, Spanish, Arabic or Russian are desired.
- Proven networking and social skills.
- Experience working with vulnerable groups on sensitive issues, including language skills in sensitive topics, is desirable.
Terms of Employment
This position is based at our Geneva office, and regular international travel is expected. It is a full-time position and a permanent contract (CDI) with a probationary period of three months.
